The Hindenburg Line - Ludendorff's Defence In Depth I THE GREAT WAR Special
1916, the Year of Battles, had strained Germany's resources everywhere but especially on the Western Front they needed to defend their captured territory against an ever growing number of Entente Forces. Erich Ludendorff decided to shorten the front line where possible and built a new "Defence In Depth" line: The Siegfried Line. This defensive network was supposed to grind the Entente forces down while freeing up more German resources.

German Defensive Strategy and Tactics At Passchendaele I THE GREAT WAR Special
Hindenburg Line Poster: http://bit.ly/HindenburgLinePoster
The Hindenburg Line, which was developed in early 1917, was designed to have depth and flexibility. Pillboxes, bunkers and machine gun nests all played vital roles in the system, as did the counter-attacking Eingreiftruppen. Since its conception, it had been effective when used properly, but Passchendaele would be where the Siegfriedstellung would face its toughest test yet. Allied superiority in artillery and aircraft, unrelenting bad weather and exhausted soldiers all put a huge strain on the German defence system, but would they be its undoing?

The advantages of the new Turky-made tank "ALTAY", a rival to the German Leopard 2A6 and 2A7.
The Turkish army built the third generation of Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), known as Altay. It is a development program for the Turkish main battle tank Altay's first prototype. The Altay was created as one of Turkey's largest defense projects with the goal of addressing contemporary ground combat requirements.
In 2011, the first prototype was tested and released to the public. To tackle the demands of the modern battlefield, the tank is outfitted with cutting edge technologies and sophisticated systems.
About 65 tons in weight, the Altay has robust anti-mine and ballistic defense systems. Maximum defense against enemy attacks is provided by the revolutionary design and robust laminated steel frame. In addition, it has sensors and defenses against nuclear, biological, radiological, and che...

In addition, it has sensors and defenses against nuclear, biological, radiological, and chemical assaults.
With dimensions of 7.3 meters in length, 3.9 meters in width, and 2.6 meters in height, this battle tank features a traditional design. Though it has a different look, the Altay shares certain technologies with the K2 Black Panther from South Korea.
The primary weapon of the Altay is a smoothbore cannon with a 120 mm barrel and a 55 caliber that can fire a variety of projectiles. It is a Rheinmettal gun variant. The South Korean Black Panther and German Leopard 2A6 and 2A7 tanks both utilize some of the same armaments.
The Altay has a very high first-round hit probability when shooting at moving targets. To the left of the main armament is a coaxially mounted machine gun with a caliber of 7.62 mm. The weapon station is situated on a turret that may hold machine guns of either the 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm caliber and is remotely controlled. Each turret has eight smoke grenade launchers installed on the back.
The Altay MBT is equipped with a sophisticated ASELSAN-developed battlefield management system and Volkan fire control system. The Turkish Army's Leopard 1 MBT receives its fire control equipment from the business. The Altay is a cutting-edge tank built in the present era. It has excellent defensive qualities, great mobility, and faster assault and firepower.
The tank commander, gunner, driver, and loader make up the crew of the Altay. The driver's hatch cover is a single piece that opens to the right, and it is located in the front center of the hull inside the tank.
The loader is on the left, the commander and gunner are on the right, and the turret is in the middle of the vehicle. At the back of the hull is where the powerpack is located. Modular composite armor is fitted on the Altay tank to shield it from many types of attacks.
An advanced 1,500-horsepower engine from MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH and Renk Germany powers the propulsion of the Altay MBT. Seven double rubber tire wheels with a sprocket on each side and a sprocket acting as a drive at the back make up the suspension.
Altay can cross water at a depth of 4.1 meters and travel at a maximum road speed of 70 kilometers per hour. Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, and Nuclear (CBRN) safety systems are installed in Altay tanks. A C3I (Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence) system apparatus is also included.
In the back is a 360-degree situational awareness system, a fire extinguishing system, an explosion suppression system, and a combat target identification system.
